Today is an awesome day for two big reasons:
#1 - It is Tim Sackett Day, the day dedicated to celebrating a normal person in Human Resources, someone who makes an incredible contribution to the field, but who doesn't necessarily get the recognition they deserve. A shout out to the unsung HR hero! This important holiday and tradition started last year, on January 23, with the inaugural Tim Sackett Day where we honored ... you'll never guess who ... Tim Sackett!
#2 - This year, for Tim Sackett day, we are celebrating one of my favorite people in the HR blogosphere, the amazing Paul Hebert!
Most readers of this blog are probably already aware of Paul, as I have frequently referenced his awesomeness in my own posts over the years (see here, here, here and here for a few...).
Paul was one of the first people I got to know in the HR blogosphere. Not only is he one of the smartest, most articulate professionals out there in the areas of motivation, influence and incentives ... he is also one of the best. He has offered me - and many others - so much support, encouragement, insight and laughs over the years.
Anyone out there who is not already reading or following Paul, you can find him at:
Fistful of Talent (where he regularly contributes)
More recently, Paul has been waging his own war against bladder cancer and, in true Paul Hebert form, has been blogging about it at his new site PeeStrong. As a friend, I have appreciated the chance to follow his journey, which he shares with his trademark candor and humor.
So please join me today in raising a glass (mine has Diet Coke at the moment) to the one and only Paul Hebert. (And Happy Birthday, Paul!)
Thanks for honoring Paul. You won't find any better in the incentive and motivation business. He forgot more than most today even know!
