This past May, my Compensation Cafe colleagues Dan Walter and Margaret O'Hanlon and I had the chance to present at WorlatWork's Total Rewards Conference in Orlando. Our session, Everything We Do <in Compensation> is Communication: How to Do Everything Better! was one of the top five most popular/most downloaded sessions from the conference.
As part of that experience, I had the opportunity to sit down with WorldatWork's Marcia Rhodes to talk about compensation communication and some of the insights from our presentation. That workspanTV video is embedded below.
At this very moment, Margaret, Dan and I are hard at work on the next phase of our Everything is Communication journey. Look for more exciting stuff to come soon!
Looking forward to more, Ann. This is the fun stuff, and really one of the key points at which Compensation and Organization Development intersect: proactive, planned change through intervention - in this case communication via compensation. Compensation is one of the most unexpected and most powerful communication vehicles an organization has. Thanks as always.

Well said, Mercedes - it is fun stuff! Thanks, as always, for reading and sharing your thoughts!

Great job on the video, Ann. Your advice is well taken - professionals should never underestimate the power of communication. Unfortunately, too many compensation plans are laboriously and intensively designed for success, only to not achieve their full potential due to the final crucial step: communication.
As always, we appreciate all you do for WorldatWork -- keep up the good blogging work! Ryan

'too many compensation plans are laboriously and intensively designed for success, only to not achieve their full potential' - I totally agree with this statement. Thanks Ryan, you've articulated my thoughts!
