The results are in. Findings from a recently released study, the "first scientifically rigorous test" of merit pay for teachers, show us that pay for performance simply doesn't produce results in the public school setting.
Is that it, then? Are all attempts at performance-based pay and reward reform for teachers necessarily doomed? What lessons can we, should we draw from this study and its conclusions - and what, if anything, do we do with them?
