Marketers, recognizing the power of the tailored "have it your way" customer experience, jumped on the customization bandwagon years ago. Is HR - and particularly rewards - heading in the same direction?
Recent research released by WorldatWork confirms what I think many of us already suspect about how employee life stage and social status impact reward preferences and priorities. And the authors of a new book Workforce of One are putting forth the argument that a well-designed work customization strategy will lead to better retention, greater productivity and improved profits.
Will we soon be rewarding the "workforce of one"? My thoughts today at the Compensation Cafe. Click over, take a look and share yours!
Ann,
Aren't companies trying to reduce complexity? Do most employees want more flexibility? Are their expectations reasonable? Have we done a good job of helping employees make good decisons with their existing benefit plans, such as investment decisions with 401(k) plans, to the point where we can entertain more choice? How many employees can telecommute?
Not so sure that employees are ready and interested, and that we've done a good job of using the existing plans to their fullest.
