I've been tagged by Dan McCarthy of the Great Leadership blog for the book meme traveling the 'sphere.
The rules, as I understand them:
1. Provide a list of the books you’re currently reading. I tend to go through different phases in my reading, and it would be great if this caught me in the middle of reading some impressive books on business or human capital topics, but the truth is that I am currently in what I will describe as one of my "liberal arts" phases. Thus, here is what I am working on:
- Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. I have made it a practice to read every book my daughter has been assigned in her Advance Placement Literature course this year. Kind of a combination of self-improvement (for me) and parental support (for her). I have loved a few (Cry, the Beloved Country was one, just finished last week), but I am struggling through this one.
- Witness to Hope by George Weigel. The biography of Pope John Paul II. A fascinating account of an extraordinary man.
- Michaelangelo: Biography of a Genius by Bruno Nardini. Currently on deck. We are taking our kids to Italy this summer, and a friend recommended this as a "must read" before our trip.
2. Pick up the nearest book.
3. Open to page 123
4. Find the fifth sentence.
5. Post the next three sentences.
From Invisible Man: "And you, each of you, were with him. Ah, how well you know it, for it was you who escaped to freedom. Ah, yes, and you know the story."
6. Tag five more people. I’m choosing to tag just three:
Paul Hebert (Incentive Intelligence)
Whew.. I'll do my best! :)
Thanks for the tag!

I love this meme, but how come no one owns up to reading cheesy books?
Frankly, I love me some bubblegum for the brain. Stephen King! Bodice rippers! Dilbert anthologies!
