Bonuses are becoming an increasingly key part of compensation for senior federal officials, according to an article in today's Washington Post.
According to the article, a federal executive whose performance was rated as "outstanding" (the top of the five level rating system used) received, on average, a bonus of $14,290 (9.3% of the average salary of $153,429) and a salary increase of $5,644 (3.7% of salary, on average). Bonuses were received by 67% of federal executives, government-wide.
