Holiday cash bonuses appear to be continuing their decline in popularity, probably victim of a number of trends including growing recognition of a more diverse set of employee holidays and the increasing preference of organizations for implementing cash-based performance incentives in lieu of what may be seen as an across-the-board year-end entitlement.
A recent WorldatWork Quick Question study, featuring the responses of 220 member organizations, reports that only 12.7% plan to provide employees with a holiday cash bonus this year.
A summary of survey responses (to the question "Is Your Organization Planning to Provide a Holiday Cash Bonus?"):
- No - 77.7%
- Yes - 12.7%
- No but non-cash rewards will be provided - 8.2%
- Uncertain 1.4%
