The survey contains data from 10,370 private industry establishments representing about 105 million workers. Benefits elements covered in the survey, which measures practices as of March 2006, include:

- Quality of life benefits (childcare assistance, flexible workplace, etc.)

- Non-production bonuses
- Stock options
Survey results are analyzed and displayed by worker characteristic (including full time versus part time), establishment characteristics (including goods versus service producers) and geographic area.
